Currently serving her second year on the staff of the Xpress, junior Rachel Brown couldn’t be more excited for her role as Managing Editor. A former Spotlight reporter and author of the pseudo-column “Under $20”, she feels very confident in her ability as a journalist and ready for the responsibility of her new position. As far as her interests go, Rachel has always excelled at all things artsy, though she kindles a special love of writing, and can’t think of anything she likes better than the newspaper. Outside of that, she also enjoys camping, hiking, biking, going to haunted houses and watching horror movies. Eventually, Rachel hopes to attend Colorado Christian University in pursuit of a degree in English, which she’ll use for either a career in investigative journalism or teaching. Her heroes, not to mention the two people she deems responsible for her love of journalism (specifically the investigative variety), are Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein. Rachel hopes that someday she’ll be good enough as a writer to be compared to the likes of them, and as such she strongly believes that the wonderful Xpress will help her on that journey.
