Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow

Jack Sparrow; excuse me, Captain Jack Sparrow has been played by the ever entertaining Johnny Depp for the past three movies. However for the next installment of the Pirates series Depp will no longer be portraying this legendary scallywag, and it’s not for the reasons you might think.

While the Disney corporation is  willing to pay him any amounts of money to stay on the project, Depp is declining due to a change in the head of Disney, Dick Cook.  Depp is so unsettled by Cook’s departure that he is refusing the role that has unarguably made him famous amongst the younger generation.

There is no confirmed replacement, but according to MTV.com some possible replacements include: James Franco, Ryan Gossling and Rob Pattinson.  While all are swoon-worthy, it is questionable whether they can bring the same dynamics to the character of Jack Sparrow as Depp has.
