On Sunday night at the 2009 Video Music Awards with host, Russell Brand, Kanye West decided to make a contribution to Taylor Swift. The first winner of the night was Taylor Swift for best female video of the year. While accepting her award, she was rudley interrupted by Kanye West, who cut off her acceptance speech, by telling the crowd that Beyonce had one of the greatest videos of all time. Swift, shocked by the incident stood there and then walked off stage. Fortunately, the crowd gave Swift a standing ovation. Later in the night, Beyonce won Moonman of the year, and instead of giving an acceptance speech for her award, she let Swift re-do hers.
On Monday, West issued two apologies to Swift about the incident on his blog. And on Monday night, West appeared on the Jay Leno show and apologized to Swift again and briefly broke down after Leno asked what his mom would have said. Wests mom passed away after her surgery went wrong about a year and a half ago.
